SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL: ADVANCING THE FUTURE OF FLIGHT

Aviation was born in the U.S., and our nation has led the world in aviation ever since that historic flight outside Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in 1903. Today, aviation fuels America’s economy, enables our nation’s supply chain and employs more than 10 million members of our workforce.

Aviation is also among our economy’s fastest growing industries. Nearly 3 million passengers and more than 58,000 tons of cargo move through American airports every day. Economic growth, coupled with consumer demand and aviation’s role supporting our supply chain, means that the industry will continue to soar to new heights over the next two decades.

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has emerged as a leading solution to allow America’s aviation industry to meet growing demand, achieve domestic energy security and reduce carbon and other emissions. Since SAF can be made from crops, plants, captured gases or waste, it also creates new markets for American agriculture, bioenergy, and technology developers. SAF can be mass-produced in the U.S. and blended with traditional jet fuel without the need to modify existing aircraft, meaning SAF can be immediately put to use.
